The hemi was king of the mountain when it came to racing applications, but many forget it also powered thousands of mundane family haulers as well. This hunk o’ cast iron badassery was found in a plain-jane beige Chrysler sedan at the annual Beausejour car show, 2009.

Although it doesn’t look much different from the ’55 model year, the 1956 Chrysler Imperial was completely different under the sheetmetal. The brakes were new, the transmission and shifter were new, and even the electrical system ran on that new-fangled 12-volt system that all the cool cars were running.
